The AR18/180 was Eugene Stoner's brainchild after the sale of the AR15's internal piston system to Colt. While the AR180 was a clear commercial failure, the pop culture an nationalistic identity that the rifle brings is undeniable. The system was also further validated by the MANY other successful firearms that copied its operating system.
