This very limited-print new book on Eugene Lefaucheux by Guillaume van Mastrigt and Arie Slingerland is an excellent reference on the Lefaucheux family, the business, and the guns themselves. Author van Mastrigt married into the Lefaucheux family and because very interested in their history, prompting him to write two books in French and now this work in English. It was done with access to the family/company records, which gives it an excellent level of detail for things like production timetables, production quantities, and the evolution of the business itself. Where previous works (namely "System Lefaucheux" by Chris Curtis) are forced to be a bit vague about this exact details, this book has all the really good hard facts that can only come from access to original records.

In fact, my copy arrived just in time for me to use it to evaluate a pair of French military Lefaucheux revolvers I was considering buying, and it was a huge help. The total print run was just 250 copies in English and as of this recording I believe there are less than 70 still available. I highly recommend the book for anyone interested in small arms development or revolver collecting. It is absolutely one of those books that will jump tenfold in price (cover price is 39.50 Euro plus shipping) and become neigh impossible to find once it sells out, so if you are interested don't hesitate!
