Book Review: Sharps Firearms Volume III (Model 1874, 1875, 1877 Target Rifles)
6m 22s
The third volume of an eventual 4-volume set of books on Sharps rifles has been released, and this one focuses on the Models 1874, 1875, and 1877 target rifles and variations. This volume was written primarily by Roy Market, Ron Paxton, and Edward Marron Jr, but the series is really a collaborative effort among a group of advanced Sharps scholars and collectors. All three volumes have been very good, but I think this is the best one yet. It includes a very large number of different Sharps models and variations as well as a lot of contextual information, in particular about the long range competitions held at Creed's Moor (Creedmoor) in New York.
The print run was limited, and books can only be ordered directly from Mr. Marcot. The price is $100 (shipping included in the US; inquire for international shipping) and checks should be made out to Northwood Heritage Press and sent to:

At the time of this filming, there are also some copies of Volume 1 (Percussion Sharps rifles) available, also for $100 shipped.
